A Federal Sheraton Inlaid Mahogany Antique Game Table. Attributed to John and Thomas Seymour, Boston, Massachusetts. A beautiful antique game table featuring the contrasting inlays. And the fine proportions associated with the Seymour shop. The conforming Mahogany top has outset corners.

With fine inlays of satinwood and ebony. The outset Mahogany legs have ring tops above vase turnings. With delicate tapered and reeded shafts. The top rests above an apron of flame birch. That has a central rectangular panel of "Birds Eye" Maple. And fine inlay framing an oval "She-Oak" panel. She-Oak is actually known as Casuarina. This rare wood was used by the Seymours as cross-banding. The banding around the Birds eye Maple, the bottom of the aprons.

And the oval panels on this table are She-Oak. Casuarina veneers are from Conifer wood brought from Southeast Asia. "She-Oak" was a very special and costly decorative feature. The Seymour's used this rare wood on their finest furniture.

The table has Birch secondary woods and a chamfered block on the fly leg. The table is in excellent condition. Dimensions: 37 1/2" wide, 18" deep, 29 3/4 high.
