WILLIAM IV ROSEWOOD GAMES TABLE. England circa 1825 Item # 807GHI21Y. An exceptional and unusual card playing table from the second quarter of the 19th century, this very fine presentation piece is dressed in beautifully patinated rosewood veneers throughout. The chaotic grain is full of drama and movement, this particularly well displayed in the column and the table top. This top flips on original brass hinges, rotating 90 degrees to reveal a full game playing surface finished in an old (not original) green baize fabric. The apron of the table is left hollow to store games and chips. Either corner of the apron show fully developed anthemion carvings with nearly black oxidization in the untouched crevices. But the most noteworthy element of the table is the animal paw feet with very fine detailing. It is a remarkable table and a fine strikepoint piece.

Our 9000 square foot gallery is home to a large collection of carefully curated period furniture, works of art and interesting objects from the late 18th century through the middle of the 20th century.
